Parivrtta Trikonasana (Revolved Triangle Pose)

Parivrtta = Revolve, Trikona = Triangle, Asana = Pose or Posture

Steps

  1. Stand on your Yoga mat in ‘Tadasana’. in line with your shoulders and your fingers pointing to the floor.
  2. Take a deep breath and with a jump spread apart your legs to your sides about three to three and a half feet. Inhale, now raise your arms to your sides,
  3. Turn the left foot about 90 degrees to the body and the right foot about 45 degrees.
  4. Exhale partially and turn your torso to the right along to face the right foot.
  5. Exhale further and bend forward bringing the right hands towards the left foot. The right palms can be touching the left foot or the toes. It can also be placed on the floor next to the foot depending on your flexibility.
  6. The left hand is raised straight, pointing to the sky with the fingers pointing upwards.
  7. The gaze can be faced upwards looking at the raised hand.
  8. You can hold this pose for about 30 seconds to a minute, with normal breathing.
  9. Now breathe in and raise your right hand from the floor. Rotate your upper body back to its normal position, and come back to starting position (hands at the shoulder level, fingers pointing down)
  10. Exhale, repeat the pose on your right side by turning your right foot 90 degrees to your right side and left foot 45 degrees to your right, and place your left palm on the floor near the outer side of your right foot.
  11. Hold the pose for 30 seconds with normal breathing.
  12. To come out of the pose, Inhale , raise your upper body back to its original position and bring the toes in the front and the arms by the side of your body.
  13. Exhale and jump back to the Tadasana pose. This completes one round. You may do as many rounds as desired.
