Simhasana (Lion Pose)
Simha = Lion, Asana = Pose/Posture
The asana resembles a seated lion, hence the name Simha (lion in Sanskrit) asana. The practitioner’s facial expressions are modified to resemble a lion.
This asana is extraordinarily beneficial for the throat, face, and respiratory organs.
Steps
- Sit in Vajrasana and apart your knees
- Keep your palms over your knees or place your hands in front of your knees or the fingers of your hands should face backward and be kept straight in between your legs.
- Now, inhale, and stretch out your tongue to the chin, tighten up your throat muscles and try to look up in between the eyebrows and exhale, during exhaling roar like a lion (roaring sound like “Haa”) as the deep-breath should come from your stomach.
- After exhaling out completely, place the tongue inside and close your mouth, relax your face, eyes and hands and sit back up for a long slow inward breath.
