Ardha Sirsasana (Half Head Stand)
Ardha = Half, Sirs = Head, Asana = Pose/Posture
Ardha Sirsasana is a basic inverted yoga posture that serves as a preparatory pose for the full version of Sirsasana.
Steps
- Sit in Vajrasana. Place your forearms on the ground while keeping your elbows a little in front of your knees. Join your hands by interlacing your fingers and placing them on the ground.
- Rest the top of the head on the ground, in contact with the hands. Try to have your top of the head touch the ground. Ensure your head is secure in your hands, as your head should not move more during the whole execution of the asana.
- Inhale. Now extend your legs, lifting yourself on the tips of your toes while lifting the hip, almost forming a triangle.
- Take a deep breath 2-3 times, and remember to keep the neck and shoulders relaxed.
- Now, slowly exhale, bend the knees, place them back down on the mat, and return to the starting position.
- Repeat this process 2-3 more times.
