Gurumahan
Gurumahan
Jagathguru Maha Maharishi Paranjothiar, known as Gurumahan by his disciples, was born on February 11, 1955 in Bhavani, Tamil Nadu, India. His parents considered him as a great blessing since he was born after much penance.
Mystic Experience
At the early age of 7, Gurumahan had an ‘out of body’ experience which gave him the realization that, ‘I’ is not a physical attribute. This experience initiated his search for the ultimate purpose of existence. He looked upon the great Swami Vivekananda as his inner Guru and pursued the quest for 12 years. His pursuit led him to meet Guru Gnanavallal Paranjothi Mahan, the founder of Universal Peace Sanctuary. Gnanavallal
Paranjothi Mahan had predicted that an apt person would come along to continue his teachings. It seemed Gurumaham’s arrival at the Universal Peace Sanctuary was expected, as Gnanavallal welcomed him saying, “Come my son, you are the one I have been waiting for. I knew you would come!”
Entry into Grihasthashram (Family life)
Gurumahan was keen to lead a yogic, celibacy life, as a brahmachari. However, Gnanavallal Paranjothi Mahan advised Gurumahan to marry Mahalakshmi, with the assurance that it would not hinder his spiritual journey, but would supplement it. Honoring his Guru’s words, Gurumahan married Mahalakshmi at the age of 25. Following his marriage, Gurumahan offered Mahalakshmi the choice of being the mother, to their own children or all the children of the world. Mahalakshmi opted not to have children of their own, but to embrace being the mother of all the children of the world. Mahalakshmi, now known as “Gurumatha”, plays a very supportive role in taking care of the basic needs of Gnanapeedam in the Thirumoorthy hills.
Guru as A Disciple
Gurumahan obtained Kundalini Deeksha or initiation from Gnanavallal Paranjothi Mahan and became a disciple. Gnanavallal Paranjothi Mahan entered Samadhi in 1981 thereafter Gurumahan, as a devoted disciple of his Spiritual Master set out to practice and spread his G spiritual message throughout the world.
